I have to say I was hesitant as to which 12v unit I would go with. I watched a lot of reviews and testing of different systems and landed on the Countrymod Pro. I'm really glad I did. I bought an open box unit (No Returns) to save a little money as it just said cosmetic scratches and I could care less about that.
It showed up with a crack in the shroud next to the fan. Nothing crazy. I emailed them if there was any concern around water penetration at the spot and if I was ok to just epoxy it. Without asking they said they was no concern, but would ship me a new one at no charge. showed up in under 2 weeks from China. Awesome start for support.
First, it's much lighter on my roof. Easily 20-30 lbs vs my old Dometic. Hook up was simple, I just drilled 2 holes and rerouted my battery cables out of the back of the unit vs interior wall run. Hooked it to the battery and instant cold.
Back to the support. First, I, me, not them blew it up somehow. Still have not figured out how I shorted it, but somehow I did. Main board blew at least 1 capacitor. I contacted support and they stated it is most likely just the main board that needs to be replaced. Bought the upgraded Bluetooth version for 60 bucks and installed. Powered right up, but had an error code. Contact them via email and they asked me to check a couple of things. all tested fine. They requested further testing on the main control unit in the AC unit, which was not fun as it's on the roof, but easy enough. They determined the main controller had gone out as well and only asked that I pay $40 for the shipping. 100% fair as it was my fault to begin with and they didn't have to. Shipped from China and had it in 4 days. Installed the new unit and boom instant cold.
I have an R-Pod 172. 400W solar, LiTime 320ah LiPo, and a 60amp MPPT I haven't done a full day run, but based off my short runs I can tell I should get 4-9 hours of constant run time depending on the settings and sun. The reality is I'll probably need 1-2 hours in the evening as I'm generally out during the day.
I have to say I'm extremely happy and if the unit every goes out I'll be looking at a new one from CountryMod.
